Pervez Musharraf returns to Pakistan
March 25 , 2013
Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf arrived back in Karachi on Sunday after four years of self-imposed exile.
General Musharraf plans to lead his party in the May general election.
He faces a series of charges including conspiracy to murder. However, on Friday Pakistani authorities granted him protective bail in several outstanding cases, freeing him from immediate arrest once he arrived in Pakistan.
One of the charges he faces is over the failure to provide adequate security for opposition leader Benazir Bhutto after she returned from exile in 2007.
Two deadly explosions, in which nearly 140 people were killed, took place shortly after her arrival in Karachi on October 19. She was killed later that year in December at a rally in Rawalpindi.
