Passenger lands after pilot gets sick
October 10 , 2013
Two flight instructors gave the only passenger of a small plane a crash course after the plane's pilot fell sick. The passenger, who had never flown an airplane before managed to land the aircraft safely at Humberside Airport in England.
One of the flight instructors called it a "pretty good landing" and mentioned that the man "didn't have lights on so he was absolutely flying blind as well."
The instructor said the man landed successfully on his fourth attempt; he kept him calm since "without any sort of talk-down he would have just gone into the ground and that would have been the end of it."
A pilot who saw the passenger landing the plane mentioned that the brave man sounded "calm as a cucumber on the radio."
Reports suggest that the pilot didn't make it and the cause of death is yet unknown.
