Palestinian President Rejects Meeting with US VP Mike Pence, Likely to Reject US Prez Invitation

  • Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has decided not to meet the US Vice President Mike Pence when the latter visits the region this December. The decision comes after Egypt's Coptic Church decided not to meet Pence in protest against US decision of formally recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Israel. Arab League has issued a joint statement (of 22 countries including allies of the US) saying that the US can’t be relied upon as the peace broker in the Middle East after it made the region plunge into “violence and chaos”. Palestine President is expected to reject US President’s invitation to meet him in Washington for dialogue.
