Overpass collapse in Brazil kills two
July 4 , 2014
An under-construction overpass collapsed in Belo Horizonte, a city which is hosting the Brazilian World Cup, killing two people and injuring at least 20.
The collapsed overpass, which was about two miles from the World Cup Mineirão Stadium, crushed the front section of a bus and other vehicles.
The accident drew angry responses, with local residents blaming it on the authorities’ haste in completing infrastructure projects for the World Cup.
In a Twitter message Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff said: “In this moment of pain, I offer my solidarity to the families of the victims.”
