Obama wins backing for strike on Syria

  • President Obama said a "limited" strike was needed in response to the alleged chemical weapons attack by Bashar al-Assad.

He has gained the support of two Republican leaders namely, John Boehner and Eric Cantor. Vote by Congress is expected to come by next week.

It has recently been confirmed that over two million people from Syria have now become refugees in neighboring countries. According to the UN, this is the worst crisis in terms of refugees with unbelievable numbers that haven't been seen since the genocide in Rwanda in 1994.

Even worse, more than 100,000 people have lost their lives since the uprising against Assad began in 2011.
