Obama calls Trump's COVID-19 Response "Chaotic Disaster", Warns of Disinformation as 2020 US Presidential Election Nears

  • The former US President Barack Obama has heavily criticized the Trump administration pointedly by calling his COVID-19 response an “absolute chaotic disaster”. Obama also sounded the alarm about the likely spread of misinformation before the US Presidential election 2020, scheduled to be held in November this year. He went on to criticize the Justice Department’s move directing prosecutors to drop its case against Michael Flynn (the former Trump national security adviser). The former US President warned that the “rule of law is at risk” and how democracies can become autocracies. He went on to point out that it is “the response to this global crisis has been so anemic, and spotty” because we are becoming selfish, tribal, divided, and seeing others as the enemy. Throughout Saturday afternoon, Donald Trump raised unverified concerns among his supporters regarding potential voter fraud in mail-in ballots as well as in-person voting in a special congressional election in California, scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
