Number of Syrian refugees rises to 200,000

More than 200,000 Syrian refugees have fled to neighboring countries as the conflict continues to escalate, according to the United Nations refugee agency.
The UNHCR added the figure was already more than its projection of 185,000 for the end of this year.
The violence in Syria has taken a toll on civilians thousands continue to register with the UNHCR since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011.
Around 30,000 people alone have arrived in Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan in the past week.
There are also believed to be more than 1.2 million internally displaced people in Syria, along with 2.5 million in need of humanitarian assistance.
