North Korea Announces Suspension of Missile Tests and Stopping of Nuclear Tests

  • Korean Central News Agency has reportedly quoted North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un saying they will stop nuclear tests and at the same time suspend all intercontinental ballistic missile tests with immediate effect (from April 21, 2018). The announcement comes a week before the North Korean leader is scheduled to meet his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae. Reports say Kim Jong-un is also expected to hold a summit with the US President Donald Trump by coming June. After Kim’s announcement, Trump called it a big progress for North Korea as well as the world. South Korean president’s spokesperson called the North Korean move a “meaningful progress”.
