Nightclub Stampede in Italy Kills 12 and Injures Many

  • Nightclub stampeded in Italy’s Corinaldo town reportedly killed 6 people and left many injured. 12 people are also reported to be seriously injured. While 5 victims were just 14-16 years of age, the 6th victim was 39 years old. The stampede happened when people inside the Lanterna Azzurra club panicked after pepper spray was fired. Reports say around 1,000 people were there inside the nightclub to listen to the rapper Sfera Ebbasta during the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The fateful incident happened at 01:00 GMT when the concert had not yet begun. The accident happened when railings gave way after people rushed to the exit door at the fear of pepper spray (upon getting “acrid smell”).
