Nigeria polls: Suicide bomber targets presidential rally
February 3 , 2015
At least one person was killed and several injured in a suicide bomb attack in Nigeria’s northern Gombe city on Monday, a few minutes after President Goodluck Jonathan addressed an election rally there, as per local media reports. The militant group Boko Haram has carried out several violent attacks as the presidential elections approach, but it was not immediately clear if it was behind the Gombe attack. Jonathan’s challenger in the poll is Muhammadu Buhari, the former military ruler. Blasts were also reported from three towns in the southern oil-rich belt.
