New steps towards tentative peace in Ukraine
July 3 , 2014
Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France claimed that they have agreed on a “package of measures” to help end the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The new steps would clear the path for a bilateral ceasefire between the Ukraine forces and rebel fighters, German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.
After a fragile ceasefire expired on Monday, there has been increased firing in the region. Nine civilians were reportedly killed in an attack in a village in eastern Ukraine, but it was not immediately clear who was responsible for the deaths.
