Nato to expand presence in east Europe
August 27 , 2014
Responding to what it calls a change in Russia’s military approach and the crisis in Ukraine, Nato plans to deploy forces in its east European bases, according to media reports.
The move is likely to trigger a robust response from Russia.
Nato secretary general Anders Fogh Rasmussen said modernization of Ukraine’s military was also on the agenda.
He said Nato would adopt a “readiness action plan” that would enable the organization to act with rapid speed “in this completely new security environment in Europe.”
