Mystery of Red Riding Hood's origin is solved
November 15 , 2013
Although, Brothers Grimm were the ones who wrote the tale of "Little Red Riding Hood," the origins of the folktale are much older than that.
Anthropologist Jamshid Tehrani used a computer technique to determine the path that the origin might have taken. He classified all versions and mapped them the same way biologists do the find common ancestors of species.
The basic assumption is that the story was inspired by Asian tales such as "The Tiger Grandmother" before traveling along the Silk Road. However, reports suggest that this Asian version is actually the result of a European tale called "The Wolf and the Kids," which came out about 1,000 years before the Red Riding Hood that people today are familiar with.
