Musharraf charged in Bhutto murder
August 21 , 2013
Pervez Musharraf has been charged in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. According to the prosecutor, Musharraf was charged with murder, conspiring and facilitating Bhutto's murder but it is not clear as to what he exactly he is being accused of.
The prosecutors have mentioned that Musharraf had failed to provide enough protection to Bhutto. He has pleaded guilty after failing to appear on the scheduled indictment earlier this month.
Top lawyers have said the prosecution will have a hard time building a good case against the former president.
Musharraf is the first army chief in Pakistan to be charged with a crime. This is a notable incident since there was a time when Pakistan military used to be untouchable.
