Militants attacked Somali president's palace
July 9 , 2014
The presidential palace in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu has been targeted by Islamist militants.
Government officials were quoted as saying that the attack was foiled and all militants belonging to the al-Shabab group killed.
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was not at the palace during the attack.
Al-Shabab, a militant group linked to al-Qaeda, lost control of capital Mogadishu in 2011. The group has recently said that it would launch more frequent attacks in Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.
