Michelangelo's David is in danger
May 6 , 2014
It appears that Michelangelo's David is having difficulty supporting himself on his two ankles. Researchers mentioned that David's ankles could result in his collapse since they're too thin to support his 5.5-ton weight.
The BBC notes that David hasn't been carved with stellar quality marble and there's some damage behind his right leg as well.
Some suggest the 17-foot statue should be taken away from the city of Florence, considering that it experiences frequent minor earthquakes or at least moving it to a safer room.
