Mass Protests against Slovakia Government after Death of Investigative Journalist

  • Tens of thousands of Slovaks have hit the streets demanding resignation of Prime Minister Robert Fico after 27 year old investigative journalist Ján Kuciak along with his fiancé Martina Kušnírová were found murdered on 25 February at their home near Bratislava. Police has said in its report that the journalist was “most likely” killed as he wrote an article alleging ties between the Italian mafia and top politicians of Slovakia. The protesters demanded thorough probe on Kuciak’s death along with a “new trustworthy government”. Reports say this is biggest such protest rally since the 1989 Velvet revolution.
