Mangkhut Causes Destruction in China, Hong Kong and Philippines

  • Hong Kong has suffered major destruction as Mangkhut reached China. The fierce winds have downed trees, tore off roofs and caused a few cranes to climb up half-built skyscrapers. In China, there are reports of as many as 29,611sites of construction and tourism being shut down. More than 18,000 emergency shelters are now activated. The speed of wind was recorded to be 107 mph, even higher than that recorded of Hurricane Florence.

    In the Philippines, over 64 people are reported to be dead. Many of the deaths are believed to be caused by landslides. According to the government officials, many are still believed to be buried due to the deluge.
