Malaysian PM cleared of corruption charges over Saudi gift

  • Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was cleared by Attorney General Mohamed Apandi Ali in relation to a gift from the Saudi Arabian royal family. The Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission had earlier labeled the $681m transferred into PM’s account as political donation from a suspected benefactor. Najib had earlier sacked the country’s previous Attorney General and also faced rampant criticism from opposition leaders to resign over personal gains in a state position.
