Magnitude 7.1 earthquake leaves Mexico City devastated

A powerful earthquake of 7.1 magnitude wreaked havoc in central Mexico yesterday. This recent earthquake caused catastrophe in Mexico- with debris of collapsed buildings spread across, survivors struggling, along with dejected relatives of deceased. At least 230 people have lost their lives across Central Mexico due to this powerful earthquake. Understanding the present crisis caused by earthquake of 7.1 magnitude, innumerable Mexicans volunteered to aid the rescuers. Untrained volunteers formed human chains to aid rescue workers in removing debris along with providing medicines and water to the affected areas. As per the Mayor of Mexico City, at least 52 people have been pulled out alive from the rubble. Three days of National mourning has been declared by the Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieto. As per the reports, there is no electricity in 40% of Mexico City. At the Enrique Rebsamen primary and secondary school, rescuers were joined in by the army. More than two weeks ago a magnitude 8.1 earthquake caused chaos in the Mexico. Rescuers along with the volunteers are carrying out the herculean task of searching for trapped survivors and amidst this the 'death toll is expected to rise'. At least 44 buildings have collapsed completely in Mexico City along with thousands more damaged, as told by the Mayor of Mexico City.
