Macron-Rouhani Agree to Look at Conditions for Talks, Iran Increasing Uranium Enrichment Limit

  • The French presidency has published a statement saying that the President of France Emmanuel Macron had talked over the phone to the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for over an hour expressing his strong concerns about the consequences Iran may face by abandoning the 2015-accord on the nuclear deal. The statement also said that both the leaders agreed to look at the conditions so that the dialogue can be resumed for saving the Iran nuclear deal with world powers. It said that the French President will continue consultations with the international partners as well as Iran for reducing tensions. However, Iran has announced on Sunday that it will start enriching uranium beyond the set limits of the 2015 nuclear deal in the coming few hours. The spokesperson for Iran's atomic agency, Behrouz Kamalvandi, said that they will start enriching uranium over 3.67% within a few hours after the required technical preparations.
