Charsadda attack: Vigils held for people who died in university attack
Peshawar, Jan 21, 2016 [10.00 AM, PKT] - Peshawar and other places in Pakistan held vigils for at least 21 people who died in a university attack. Four suspected militants were also killed in the assault on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda. Media reports quoted Lt Gen Asim Bajwa, military spokesman, as saying that major breakthroughs in identifying the gunmen; however, he did not name them.
20 dead, TTP Claims Responsibility for University Attack
Peshawar, Jan 20, 2016 [01.05 PM, PKT] Two hours after suspected militants opened fire at the Bacha Khan University, 20 people were reported as dead. According to police sources, though the firing has ceased and four attackers have been killed, more casualties are being feared. Meanwhile, Omar Mansoor, the mastermind behind the APS Peshawar attack, of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post.
7 Dead in Terror Attack at Pakistan University
Peshawar, Jan 20, 2016 [12.15 PM, PKT] According to latest media reports, 7 people, including students and a Chemistry professor, have died in the attack, while 20 were reported injured. Though the number of attackers is yet to be ascertained, sources said that they have held hostages on the university campus ground. The Pakistan Army has been brought in and rescue operations are underway in full swing. The PMO’s office has released a statement saying that PM Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has expressed grief over terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University that has led to the loss of precious human lives.
Gunmen attack Pak University Campus, 5 injured
Peshawar, Jan 20, 2016 [11.35 AM, PKT] Five people have been injured in an attack by a group of militants at a university in northwestern Pakistan. According to local media reports, firing is still underway and two explosions have been heard. A total of 3000 students and 600 guests have gathered at the Bacha Khan University in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to attend a special event. Deputy Inspector General Saeed Wazir said that an operation has been launched to rescue staff and students.
