Lion hunter: US dentist Walter Palmer apologises to patients
July 30 , 2015
Walter Palmer, an American dentist who shot and killed a lion in Zimbabwe, has issued an apology to his Minnesota patients after protests disrupted his dental practice. His workplace at Minneapolis has been shut since he was identified as the tourist who shot Zimbabwe’s best-known lion — Cecil.
Two Zimbabwean nationals have already been charged over the killing and Palmer may face poaching charges. Palmer has, however, maintained that he was unaware of Cecil’s status as a protected lion and given to believe that the hunt was legal.
