August 22 , 2014
The south Indian state of Kerala has laid out a roadmap to ban the consumption and sale of alcohol in the state.
According to the state’s chief minister Oommen Chandy, the aim is to achieve total prohibition within a decade.
To begin with, over 700 bars and stores selling alcohol would be closed, and the number of ‘dry’ days increased.
Kerala’s alcohol consumption per person per capita is the highest in India.
