Japan: Court rejects residents' attempt to halt reactor restart
April 22 , 2015
A Japanese court has rejected attempts by locals to block the restart of two reactors at the Sendai nuclear plant in Kagoshima.
Though Kyushu Electric Power had got the official go-ahead for re-starting operations, the area’s residents were opposed to the move, citing concerns over safety.
Last week a Takahama court had ruled in favor of local residents in a similar case.
Following the 2011 Fukushima disaster, all nuclear reactors in Japan were taken offline.
