  • Italian coastguard rescues around 1,500 people on Sunday and Monday Around 1,500 people have been rescued by the Italian coastguard off the coast of Libya in last 48 hours. The people who have been rescued over the past two days also included women and children. Media reports quoted the Italian coastguard as saying that around a dozen rescue operations at sea were conducted on Sunday and Monday in which 1,482 people were picked up. However, they did not release the nationalities of the people.
