Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard freed after 30 years in US prison

  • Jonathan Pollard, a former US navy analyst who was jailed for a life term in 1987 for spying for Israel, has been released.

    The 61-year-old served 30 years in prison for passing classified information to Israel. According to his parole conditions, he has to remain in the US for five years. He will also have to wear a GPS ankle bracelet and his home and work will be subject to inspections.

    Earlier, Israel had made several appeals to the US, asking for clemency to be shown towards Pollard, but they were rejected.
