Iraq's foreign minister removed
July 12 , 2014
A senior Kurdish minister has been removed from the Iraqi government, media reports have said. The development comes as two oilfields in north Iraq were seized by the semi-autonomous Kurdish government.
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki removed foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari from his cabinet, reports indicated, giving credence to the view that Iraq was being splintered along ethnic lines.
Kurdish officials are angry at comments made by al-Maliki in which he seemed to have linked Sunni militants to Irbil’s Kurdish Regional Government.
