Investigation into Virgin Galactic crash underway
November 2 , 2014
US officials have started investigating the reasons behind the Virgin Galactic spacecraft crash that killed a pilot during a test flight.
The co-pilot who died when SpaceShipTwo exploded over Mojave desert was identified as 39-year-old Michael Alsbury. The second pilot, Peter Siebold, has been hospitalized with “moderate to major injuries”, the police said.
Virgin Group founder Richard Branson said he was “determined to find out what went wrong”.
The US National Transportation Safety Board said its investigating team could be at the site for up to a week, but the entire probe could take a year to complete.
