Hurricane Nate makes US Landfall as Category 1 Storm, Weakens Rapidly after Landfall
October 8 , 2017
After storming through Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras, Hurricane Nate made its landfall in the USA near Mississippi’s Biloxi at 12:30am local time as a Category 1 storm. However, the storm has reportedly weakened rapidly after the landfall as it moved farther inland in Mississippi and Alabama early Sunday. National Hurricane Center (NHS) has said that the speed has come down from 85mph to 70mph. The center also said that it anticipates the storm to weaken further. Though NHS issued hurricane warning in the coastal areas earlier, they have now discontinued the warning along Alabama-Florida border to eastward of Louisiana-Mississippi border (especially from the mouth of Pearl River).
