Hurricane Gonzalo hits Bermuda, knocks off electricity
October 18 , 2014
Power supplies were knocked off in most of Bermuda as Hurricane Gonzalo hit the islands on Friday, clocking wind speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, media reports said.
The Category 2 hurricane, the most powerful storm to strike the British territory in 10 years, made landfall at around 8.30 pm local time.
Forecasters have warned that after the hurricane passes, the islands could be battered with further storms, flooding and lashing winds.
