Hundreds killed by Boko Haram in Nigeria
January 10 , 2015
Hundreds of bodies lie strewn on the ground in northeastern Nigeria in what is being described as the bloodiest ever massacre by the Boko Haram.
Fighting has continued around Baga town, by the Chad border, which was targeted by the Islamist fighters earlier this week. The Boko Haram have also captured a military base in the town.
A government spokesperson said security forces have “responded rapidly” and carried out airstrikes against militant positions. But the escalation in violence has put a question mark on the Nigerian forces' ability to defeat the militants.
