Htin Kyaw, a close ally of Aung San Suu Kyi, has been elected as the next president of Myanmar. As per media reports, he is the first civilian leader to be elected as the president of the country after more than 50 years of military rule. Kyaw said that his appointment as the president was "Aung San Suu Kyi's victory." Suu Kyi, who has been banned by the constitution for the post of the president, said that she would lead Myanmar anyway.
