More than 20 people, many of them trekkers, were feared dead after Nepal was struck with blizzards on Thursday, October 16, according to media reports.
The casualties, include eight foreign nationals hiking in the Himalayas. The death toll could rise as many trekkers caught in the extreme weather conditions could not be immediately contacted, media reports said.
Five trekkers — four Canadian and one Indian — were buried under an avalanche in Phu. In Mustang district, the bodies of four trekkers — one Israeli, one Nepali, and two Poles — were recovered.
