Hillsborough inquest: Fans were unlawfully killed, says jury

  • An inquest has concluded that 96 football fans who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster were unlawfully killed. According to media reports, the jury decided that the actions of Ch Supt David Duckenfield, the match commander, amounted to gross negligence because of his breach of duty of care to fans. The jury also maintained that the dangerous situation at the FA Cup semi-final was also due to police errors.
