Health of Egypt's Mubarak "very critical"
June 12 , 2012
Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's health is "very critical" and urgently requires medical care, according to his lawyer.
Farid el-Deeb said the 84-year-old's condition was worsening and that he had a frequent irregular heart beat.
Mubarkar was jailed for life on June 2 for allowing the killings of protesters who demonstrated against him.
The deposed leader has been charged with ordering police to open fire and was sent to Tora prison on the outskirts of the capital Cairo.
Egypt's prison authority has not yet responded to requests from his lawyer and family to move him to a hospital.
Opponents of Mubarak claim the former president and those around him have embellished reports over his condition to gain public sympathy.
