Guatemala Announces Decision of Moving its Embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv
December 25 , 2017
President of Guatemala Jimmy Morales has ordered embassy of the country to be moved to Jerusalem. Morales claimed that the decision was taken after he spoke on the issue with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Guatemala, a heavily US-aided country and a long standing ally of Israel, was one of the 9 countries that voted against the UN resolution that sought reversal of US’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Guatemalan authorities have been instructed by Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales in starting "necessary respective co-ordination" before their embassy is shifted to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
