Greek PM lashes out at Europe's 'inept' handling of migrant crisis
October 31 , 2015
Greece’s prime minister Alexis Tsipras has hit out at European “ineptness” in its handling of the migrant crisis, after the death of 22 migrants on Friday.
At least 19 people were killed and about 140 rescued near the Aegean Sea island of Kalymnos when their boat sank, in one of the worst such accidents near Greece since the migrant crisis started. Three more people died when another migrant boat sank near Rhodes island.
“The waves of the Aegean are not just washing up dead refugees, dead children, but the very civilisation of Europe,” Tsipras said.
