Greece passes legislation to allow migrants to return to Turkey

  • In a development to the ongoing illegal immigrant crisis in Greece, Greek Parliament has passed a bill by the support of 169 members of the 300-seat parliament to allow the migrants to return to Turkey. This deal is aimed at easing the uncontrolled mass migration of people into Europe. In return, Turkey will receive aid and political concessions. Turkey is set to receive €3bn ($3.3 bn; £2.3 bn) as aid to help with migrant situation and also re-energise Turkey EU membership bid. According to the deal, all ‘irregular migrants who have crossed into Greece from Turkey after March 20 will be sent back. For each migrant that returns to Turkey one migrant will be resettled in Europe
