April 3 , 2015
A new study showed that Muslim population will increase to 2.76 billion by 2050, significantly decreasing the gap with Christian population that will increase to 2.92 billion in the same period.
While Christianity will grow too, its rate is expected to be much slower than that of Islam, which is the fastest-growing religion in the world, the study by the Pew Research Center revealed.
According to the study, India will be home to the world’s largest Muslim population, crossing Indonesia, while Hinduism will overtake the loosely-worded “unaffiliated” group as the third largest faith, by 2050.
