Fukushima Crisis Report Submitted - Man-Made Disaster Says Japan

  • A parliamentary report about the meltdown at Fukushima and the subsequent nuclear crisis, submitted by Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission, declared that the disaster was clearly man-made and hence preventable. The report accused plant operator TEPCO of ignoring warning signs signifying a major earthquake and tsunami. The Japanese government and administration was also slammed for not taking the safety of the country seriously. Former Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan’s response to the disaster was qualified as inadequate by the report.
