Former Tepco executives charged with negligence over Fukushima nuclear plant disaster

  • A citizen’s panel in Japan has formally charged three former executives of Tokyo Electric Power Co with negligence over the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster that took place in 2011. According to media reports, the three executives will be the first to go to court over the accident. Tsunehisa Katsumata, the chairman of Tepco at the time the disaster took place, is one of the executives who has been charged.
