Forbes lists Putin as the 'most powerful person'
November 2 , 2013
Vladimir Putin, who is the president of Russia as well as the prime minister of Russia, has dethroned Obama and become the most powerful person in the world, as per Forbe's annual list.
The list, which is based on the number of people, amount of money and spheres of influence the leaders control, listed Obama at the top last year.
According to Forbes, Obama couldn't secure his No. 1 spot this year because of the government shutdown as well as the political crisis over Syria. While, the US threatened to attack the country, Russia eventually convinced Syria to hand over its chemical weapons.
Moreover, NSA leaks by Edward Snowden also played a role in weakening Obama's power and strengthening that of Putin's.
