Neo-Nazis and football fans clashed with the police in Cologne, Gemany, on Sunday, October 26, in a protest targeting Islamic extremism that turned violent.
Around 2,500 football hooligans and members of far right groups had gathered under the “Hooligans against Salafists” banner. A smaller march to counter the protests was also organized by anti-fascist groups.
Drunk protesters reportedly threw rocks, bottles, and other objects at the riot police, injuring more than 44, according to media reports.
Six people were arrested as the police used water canon and pepper spray to control the mob.
