October 2 , 2013
At least 30 people have died in Combodia due to recent floods caused by heavy rains as well as an overflow of the Mekong River.
About 247,000 acres of rice field have been damaged and more than 9,000 families have fled their homes. Nearly 67.000 houses, 513 schools, 25 health centers as well as 300 Buddhist padogas were either damaged or submerged.
A 58-year old doctor, who tended to many flood victims said he hasn't seen worse in his career.
"The government can only help a small number of people," a representative of a nonprofit said. "They don't have the capacity."
Moreover, many affected areas are out of communication but the villagers said the water has begun to recede.
