Japan floods: Rescue work continues, three dead

Sep 11, 2015 - Rescue work in Japan is continuing following the severe flooding and landslides in the country. According to media reports, at least three people have so far died and 26 people are missing in the floods. 25 of these are missing in the city of Joso in Ibaraki which was severely affected as the Kinugawa River burst its banks. The badly affected prefectures included Tochigi and Miyagi.
Floods and landslides in northeast Japan, 90,000 forced to abandon homes
Sep 10, 2015 - More than 90,000 people have been forced to abandon their homes following widespread flooding and landslides in northeast Japan. According to media reports, Joso city, located north of Japan’s capital Tokyo, was flooded after the Kinugawa River burst its banks. Meanwhile, helicopter rescue teams have been evacuating people from rooftops. The floods and landslides have claimed the life of one person, while 12 people have been injured so far.
