'First Lady' role is sexist and needs to go

Nabila Randani in the Guardian notes that it may be time to move past the sexist role of the first lady.
French President François Hollande's partner ended up spending eight nights in a hospital after learning about his affair with another woman. Hollande only spent 30 minutes with her during those days and now plans on ditching her to make his new lover the first lady.
Ramdani points to other cases, where position may not be this extreme: Michelle Obama sacrificed her career to carry out official tasks for the White House and Samantha Cameron also gave up her career despite the fact that she's not officially the first lady.
"Thus highly educated, talented women ...are effectively told to suspend their careers to become state-sponsored ladies who lunch."
