Fire engulfs historic church in Manhattan

  • A massive fire engulfed a historic church in Manhattan. Several firefighters battled the fire which occurred on Sunday when Serbian Orthodox parishioners celebrated Easter. According to media reports, the fire broke out in the evening and had soon engulfed the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava located in Flatiron neighborhood. Earlier in the day, more than 700 parishioners had celebrated Easter; however, there was no one inside the cathedral at the time of the fire.
