Finland President re-elected for the second term


  • The President of Finland Sauli Niinisto has been re-elected for the second term. Sauli got 62.7 % votes. The President is credited to be instrumental in maintaining a balanced relationship with Finland's powerful neighbor Russia during the simmering relations with Moscow and the west. Sauli Niinisto is the first candidate to secure victory in the first round of elections since the electoral system of Finland was changed to direct popular vote in 1994.
