Europeans Asked To Leave Benghazi

  • The UK Foreign Office and four other European nations have urged their citizens to leave Benghazi due to an imminent threat to "westerners". The warning is likely a result of intelligence information about the security situation in Libya. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia, website also ran a similar warning – “All Australians in Benghazi should leave immediately”.

The warnings come a day after the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, testified to the US Congress about the attack on the US mission in Benghazi in September 2012. The attack killed the American ambassador to Libya and three others.
